Dr. Dhot

Dr. Dhot graduated in 1989 from the College of Veterinary Sciences, PAU, in India. He worked in India as a mixed animal practitioner until he moved to Canada in 2004 with his wife, daughter and son. Both of Dr. Dhot’s children are in school studying to become vets and one day would like to work with their dad in his clinic.
Once in Canada, Dr. Dhot worked in various jobs. After writing his NAVLE, he went to Mississippi State University for his practicum in 2006. He worked as a vet in Surrey until he opened his practice in 2009. Dr. Dhot is interested in soft tissue surgery and is continuously upgrading his skills and interest by attending seminars and conferences. When not at his practice, Dr. Dhot can be found at the gym or at home with his 2 cats and 2 dogs.

Dianne is one of our best veterinary assistants. She is a mom to 3 teenagers and has 1 dog and 4 cats. She loves all animals and is happy to be able to work with them.

Tricity Animal Hospital has been providing veterinary care for dogs and cats in Port Coquitlam since 2009. Located in Poco Place Mall on Lougheed Highway, our clinic serves families from Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Port Moody, and the surrounding Tri-Cities area. Our Practice

Tricity Animal Hospital opened in 2009 with a clear purpose: to make high-quality veterinary care accessible and affordable for pet owners in the Tri-Cities. Dr. Dhot, DVM

Dr. Dhot graduated in 1989 from the College of Veterinary Sciences at Punjab Agricultural University in India, where he went on to work as a mixed animal practitioner before relocating to Canada in 2004. After successfully completing the NAVLE licensing examination, he completed a clinical practicum at Mississippi State University in 2006 and worked as a veterinarian in Surrey before opening Tricity Animal Hospital in Port Coquitlam in 2009. Dr. Dhot has a particular area of interest in soft tissue surgery and continues to develop his skills and knowledge through ongoing professional development, including regular attendance at veterinary seminars and conferences. Outside the clinic, Dr. Dhot shares his home with two cats and two dogs.

Our Team

Tricity Animal Hospital runs on the dedication of a close-knit support team whose genuine love for animals shows in every interaction. Dianne, one of our experienced veterinary assistants, brings warmth and care to every client and patient she works with. Mari, who has a deep passion for animal care, helps create a welcoming environment where pets and their owners feel at ease. Our team also includes Kiana, Jocelyn, who joined us as a volunteer before becoming a part-time staff member while continuing her studies, and Anya. Together, our team provides the friendly, attentive experience that our clients in Port Coquitlam have come to expect.

How long has Tricity Animal Hospital been open?

Tricity Animal Hospital opened in Port Coquitlam in 2009. Dr. Dhot has been serving the Tri-Cities community as a licensed veterinarian since 2006, and the practice has grown steadily through word of mouth and a consistent focus on quality care.

Is Tricity Animal Hospital open on weekends?

Yes. We are open Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (doctor on duty 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM) and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM for retail and booking. Weekend appointments with a doctor are available Saturday. Please call ahead to confirm availability.

What species does Dr. Dhot see?

We see dogs and cats. Dr. Dhot and our team provide a full range of veterinary services for both species, from routine preventive care to surgical procedures and urgent care visits.

Does Tricity Animal Hospital accept new patients?

Yes, new clients and patients are always welcome at Tricity Animal Hospital. You can book an appointment by calling us at (604) 942-2225 or using our online booking form. Walk-ins are accepted when availability permits.

How do I know if my dog has fleas?

Signs include excessive scratching, biting at the skin, hair loss, red or irritated skin, and visible dark debris in your pet’s coat. If you suspect fleas, bring your pet in for an examination. We can confirm the presence of fleas and recommend the appropriate control approach.

Can dogs get heartworm in British Columbia?

Heartworm is transmitted by mosquitoes and is present in BC, though risk levels vary by region. Dogs that travel to higher-risk areas of Canada or the United States face greater exposure. Annual testing and preventive care are the best ways to protect your dog regardless of where you live.
